Striker

Striker is a football term for the most attacking row of players in a team. Also known as attackers and forwards, they are principally responsible for goal scoring.

In a typical formation of players, there will be one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two strikers. This is known as the 4-4-2 formation. Rarely would a team contain more than three or less than one striker.

Strikers generally have the highest transfer value and are usually more notorious because they score more goals than other players. The most obvious exception to this is midfielder, David Beckham, who enjoys celebrity status and endorses many products.
