Suspension is a form of punishment in which a privilege is taken away for a specified period of time. For example, a driver's license may be suspended for an infraction of the traffic rules. Sports participants such as football players and Formula 1 drivers also endure suspensions for rule infringements, meaning they cannot take part in the sport until the suspension period is over.
