The Battle of Evermore

"The Battle of Evermore" is an acoustic guitar and mandolin track from Led Zeppelin's fourth album.

Folk singer Sandy Denny duets with Robert Plant.

It is based on events in the third of Tolkin's Lord of the Rings books, The Return of the King.

It is thought that the Prince of Peace, who "turned and went" and "embraced the gloom", refers to Imrahil, who fought bravely but was ultimately denied the crown of Gondor.
