The Inquirer

The Inquirer is a popular online website published in a newspaper format, focusing on technology, especially the semiconductor industry.

The Inquirer was founded by Mike Magee, after his departure from rival online newspaper The Register.

The web site is known for its early access to industry news, and access to many insider sources.

One of the specialities of the Inquirer is the particular tone with which the articles are written. The Inquirer tends to be quite colorful at times and sometimes offensive. Despite of this no particular bias shines through unless you're too biased yourself.

Another trait is the terms the Inquirer uses for many IT firms and persona. Here are some examples:

  • Chipzilla - Intel
  • Chimpzilla - AMD
  • Graphzilla - nVidia
  • the Vole - Microsoft
  • the Pabster - Tom Pabst

The Inquirer also uses some terms of their own, like marchitecture, which stands for marketing architecture, or the process of designing products and naming technologies in a way which will benefit marketing and/or sales.
