Tokugawa Tsunayoshi

Tokugawa Tsunayoshi (February 23, 1646 - February 19, 1709) is the fifth shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate who is known as being called "Dog Shogun" infamously.

During his regime, he promoted an Neo-Confucianism, Chu Hsi. In the late of his administration, he came to be obsessed with protection of animals, particular dogs given that he was in the year of dog.
