Tokyo Disney Sea

Tokyo DisneySea is the newest Disney theme park, that opened on September 4, 2001. It is part of the Tokyo Disney Resort located in Urayasu, Japan, just outside of Tokyo.

The park's two symbols are the Tokyo DisneySea AquaSphere (a water fountain with a large model of the earth) near the entrance, and the gigantic volcano located in the center of the park.

The park consists of seven themed areas:

  • Mediterranean Harbor
  • American Waterfront
  • Lost River Delta
  • Port Discovery
  • Mermaid Lagoon
  • Arabian Coast
  • Mysterious Island

Some of its most popular attractions that use the fastpass system include "Journey to the Center of the Earth," "Indiana Jones: Temple of the Crystal Skull," "Storm Rider," "Mermaid Lagoon Theatre," and "The Magic Lamp Theatre."

Compared to Tokyo Disneyland theme park, Tokyo DisneySea is targeted to older guests. Many moderate to expensive restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages are within the park.

Hotel MiraCosta, Tokyo Disney Sea's official hotel, is connected to the park.
