Transportation in Peru

Railways:

The Ferrocarril Central del Perú is the highest railway in the world, apart from the one under construction in Tibet. Starting in Callao port, from almost the sea level, it passes by Lima city and then reach the peak-altitude of 4,818 m. in the Anticona pass (Ticlio, Lima).

unpaved: 64,200 km (1999 est.)

Waterways: 8,600 km of navigable tributaries of Amazon system and 208 km of Lake Titicaca.

note: Iquitos, Pucallpa, and Yurimaguas are all on the upper reaches of the Amazon and its tributaries
