Tribute album

A tribute album is an LP of cover versions of a specific artist's songs. For example, a group of artists have recorded Sharin' in the Groove, which consists entirely of Phish covers. Sharin' in the Groove, like many tribute albums, is dedicated to charity, with all profits supporting music education. Other tribute albums are, such as Where the Pyramid Meets the Eye, is intended to aid the original artist, in this case Roky Erickson, whose cult fame has not led to financial success. In some cases, such as Great Zeppelin, a tribute album is performed entirely by one artist -- in this case Great White covers songs of Led Zeppelin
