Valgerd Svarstad Haugland

Valgerd Svarstad Haugland (born August 23,1956) is Minister of Culture and Church Affairs and leader of the Christian Democratic Party in Norway, to which also Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik belongs.

She has announced that she will withdraw as party leader at the extraordinary annual assambly of the party January 23 2004. The main reason is that she was blamed for being responsible for the bad results at the last local election held september 2003.
