VISOR

VISOR is a device used to transmit images directly into the brain of the wearer and is used in the fictional Star Trek universe by Geordi LaForge to see. VISOR is a backronym for Visual Instrument and Sight Organ Replacement.

The VISOR enables the wearor to see the full electromagnetic spectrum and is connected directly to the person's optic nerves.

A few years ago, a news story was released stating that a group of scientists and doctors are researching into if a VISOR can actually be created for blind or visiually-impared people.
