Vladimír Spidla

Vladimír Špidla is the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. His Social Democratic Party has governed in a coalition with the Christian Democrats and Freedom Union since June 2002. He is strongly in favour of European Union membership. He had been a historian before entering politics, rising to leader of the SDP in 2001.
