Wang Laboratories

Wang Laboratories was a computer company founded in 1951 by Dr. An Wang. The company was headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts and at its peak in the 1980s, employed over 30,000 people.

The company specialized in computers designed specifically for word processing and did not foresee (and was unable to compete against) general personal computers with word processing software in the 1980s. Wang Laboratories eventually went bankrupt on August 18, 1992.
