Waverly is a town located in Polk County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,927.

\nWaverly is located at 27°58'4" North, 81°37'19" West (27.967709, -81.621819)¹. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 9.3 km² (3.6 mi²). 9.2 km² (3.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.12% water.

\nAs of the census of 2000, there are 1,927 people, 864 households, and 603 families residing in the town. The population density is 210.2/km² (543.8/mi²). There are 1,178 housing units at an average density of 128.5/km² (332.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 69.64% White, 25.53% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.26% Pacific Islander, 3.06% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. 4.51% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 864 households out of which 15.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.6% are married couples living together, 10.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% are non-families. 27.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.23 and the average family size is 2.65. In the town the population is spread out with 18.4% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 16.2% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 39.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 56 years. For every 100 females there are 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.7 males.
