\nWest Union is located at 34°45'29" North, 83°2'30" West (34.758141, -83.041740)¹. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

\nAs of the census of 2000, there are 297 people, 134 households, and 79 families residing in the town. The population density is 148.9/km² (386.2/mi²). There are 145 housing units at an average density of 72.7/km² (188.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 87.54% White, 0.67% African American, 3.03% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 7.74% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. 15.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 134 households out of which 21.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.3% are married couples living together, 6.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.0% are non-families. 38.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
