Wilderness Area

A Wilderness Area is an area of land that is protected from human encroachment. Many nations have designated wilderness areas incluidng South Africa and the United States. In the US a Wilderness Area is one within the federal lands which are set aside by statute as nature preserves. Human activities in Wilderness Areas are restricted to hiking and camping, horses are allowed but no motorized vehicles or equipment.
