Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival

The Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival is an annual alternative theater festival held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Founded in 1987, it is one of Winnipeg's most popular cultural events. The 2003 Fringe drew 142,900 attendees and featured performers from Canada, the United States, Scotland, and the United Kingdom.

The fringe movement began in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1947 and has since expanded around the world. Other Canadian cities that hold fringe festivals include Edmonton, Alberta, Calgary, Alberta, Vancouver, British Columbia, Victoria, British Columbia, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Montreal, Quebec, London, Ontario, Ottawa, Ontario, Thunder Bay, Ontario and Toronto, Ontario.
