Youth International Party
The Youth International Party (whose adherents were known as yippies) was a political party established in the United States by Abbie Hoffman, Rennie Davis, John Froines, David Dellinger, Lee Weiner, and Tom Hayden during the Vietnam war.Actor Peter Coyote of the San Francisco Diggers had serious disagreements with the Yippies due to the way they organized the demonstration at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Coyote and others believed the Yippies were leading the demonstrators into a death trap.
